  • 1. Why do I need a Heat Pump?

Living in Hawke’s Bay means we live in one of the most superb climates in New Zealand, yet we still need an efficient and effective method of heating and cooling our homes.

Panasonic Heat Pumps provide a cost-effective solution to our year-round comfort. Who doesn’t want a warm, dry home in the colder months and cool, clean air during our blazing summers!

  • 2. What do I need?

There is a range of factors to be considered before finding the right solution for your home. We look at the room size and layout, the performance and price you are looking at, the number of individual areas you want to climate control, and the style of heat pump you want. We will come and assess your requirements, give our best advice and recommend a system that suits your needs, your home and your budget. Complete our enquiry form or call us to arrange a free no-obligation quote.

  • 3. What about installation?

No need to worry, we’ll take care of the entire installation process. Our trained and registered technicians provide a professional and efficient installation service, with the least possible disruption. We can also offer Art Deco sympathetic installation for your home.

  • 4. How does a heat pump work?

Heat pumps don’t generate heat in the way that other traditional forms of home heating do, instead they use an indoor and outdoor unit to draw warmth from the outside air and transfer it into your home. Reversing the action causes the unit to cool the air in your home, offering comfort during a long hot Hawke’s Bay summer.

Heat pumps HEAT in the winter, COOL in the summer, DEHUMIDIFY and FILTER the air.

  • 5. What different types of heat pumps are there?

There are a range of Heat Pumps and systems to suit your individual needs:

    High-Wall Type

    Floor Console

    Under Ceiling

    Multi Systems

    Cassettes

A single room unit will effectively and efficiently heat a single area, whereas a Multi-system will use one outdoor unit to run multiple indoor units.

  • 6. What is an inverter?

Inverter systems save energy by using a variable controlled (speed) Compressor. The output is controlled to only provide the energy required to keep the room to the set temperature. By reducing the output required less power is used and this substantially reduces power consumption. Inverter control not only saves you money but also keeps you more comfortable.

  • 7. How do I know which heat pump system to choose?

Our unique New Zealand homes have many features that need to be taken into account when selecting a heat pump solution. These include your home location, climate, position, design, building construction, window areas, ceiling heights, insulation levels and air flow.

We are here to help you make the best decision to suit your needs and your budget, we can provide an on-site survey of your property and give a professional reccommendation of the best solution for you.

  • 8. How much does it cost to run a heat pump?

This depends on how much heating/cooling is required, however a well designed and installed system can deliver at least $3 worth of heat for every dollar spent*. The cost of using a heat pump for your home heating is about a quarter the cost of electric heating and about a third of the cost of gas.
